Your Guide To Detoxification
WHAT IS DETOXIFICATION
Detoxification is something our bodies do naturally everyday. It is a normal process that our body has of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the colon, kidneys, liver, lungs, lymph and our skin as waste. If the bodies systems for detoxification become overwhelmed, our body will protect itself from dangerous material by setting it aside, surrounding it with mucous and/or fat so it wont cause an imbalance or trigger an immune reaction.
Because it is estimated that more than 80,000 toxic chemicals have been released into our environment over the last 150 years. Many of those directly into our food system. We have been exposed through pollutant run-offs in our water, pesticides, additives in our food, heavy metals, anesthetics, residues from drugs along with environmental waste & hormones. These become trapped in the body in greater concentrations than at any other point in history. According to the non-profit organization, Environmental Working Group, a baby born in America today will have an average of 287 known toxins in his or her umbilical cord blood. Everyday we are exposed to toxins that our body works hard to break down and release through natural processes. It is when our bodies are over burdened that a cleanse may offer the toxins an exit strategy that will leave us feeling better and more ourselves.
Almost everyone can benefit from a cleansing program. Its a really good way to remain healthy in a toxic environment. No one is immune from environmental toxins and if you eat processed foods and use mainstream body and skin care products you are simply adding to the many toxins you are exposed to on a daily basis.
There are many different thoughts on when might be a good or the best time to cleanse. Dr Elson M. Haas recommends we cleanse with the seasons. These times would include: Spring Cleaning, Summer Light, Late Summer, Autumn Harvest, Winter Solstice. Dr Bernard Jensen recommended the first 3 days of each month and then a longer one at the change of seasons. With these recommendations in mind it is also good to remember “anytime is a good time. Of course, when you are very ill, pregnant or are taking alot of medication you would want to check in with your Doctor first but in many cultures there is almost nothing listed as a contraindication to cleansing.

POSSIBLE FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO TOXICITY

One of my teachers, Dr. Thomas Rau of the Paracelsus Clinic described the imbalance that creates Dis-Ease by using the image of a barrel. We all have our barrel and it gets filled up with, stress, toxins, bacteria, viruses and such. If we don’t drain it either on a regular basis or at least from time to time it will overflow giving us a mess to clean up.
Things you can do every day to keep your detoxifying pathways open and working for you
Drinking enough fresh, clean water each day is vitally important to maintaining good health. A good rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in ounces, each day. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you would want to drink at least 75 ounces of water daily. Eat clean, healthy foods. This may seem like a no-brainer, but incorporating organic, non-GMO foods into a healthy diet will make a difference. If you eat animal products, make sure that they are grass-fed, free-range, and healthy themselves. It is important to consider the health of the animal you are eating, and if it was not of good health itself, how eating it will impact your health. We understand it can be overwhelming to make all these changes at once. One good way to start making changes gradually is by following the saying, “one in, one out.” Simply replace one item in your diet with a healthy, organic, non-GMO alternative each day until you’ve reached a point where you are only eating foods that contribute to your body’s health. Get moving! Engage in some form of movement each day, with a focused effort for specific exercise at least 5 days per week. Relax, restore, rejuvenate, and meditate!
Our cleanses offer the body a chance to reduce the amount of toxins and nourish itself with an abundance of whole juices and foods that contain live vitamins, minerals, concentrated nutrients and enzymes. Cleansing is comparable to a rejuvenating vacation for your digestive system. Each of our juices contains 3-5 pounds of organic produce, which will keep you satiated and nourished.
